THAREED (Lamb soup with Barley Bread)
We have checked many Hadith in Shamail Tirmizi & we have come to the opinion that the bread mostly consumed by Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam & his family was BARLEY BREAD. When it is combined with meat, Thareed becomes the superior most food of this world. Virtue of Thareed over other foods is compared with the virtue of Aisha Radi Allaho Anha over other women. We have seen that some people prepare Thareed with wheat bread, but it never provides the healing results as exhibited by Thareed made with barley bread.
In both Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, it is authentically reported that the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "The virtue of Aishah over other women is like the virtue of Thareed (a dish of Barley bread and meat) over all other foods." Thareed, although a composite dish, is made from Barley bread and meat; bread is considered the best of staple foods, and meat is the master of side dishes. When combined, there is no comparison to it.
People have debated over which is superior, bread or meat. The correct view is that bread is more necessary and widely consumed, while meat is more distinguished and superior, bearing a closer resemblance to the essence of the human body than any other food. Moreover, meat is the food of the people in Paradise. Allah (Exalted is He) also rebuked those who asked for herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, and onions, saying,
"Do you exchange that which is better for that which is lesser?" [Quran, Al-Baqarah: 61]. Many early scholars believed that "fawm" (فوم) in the verse refers to wheat, and based on this interpretation, the verse explicitly states that meat is superior to wheat.
Some people think that Thareed is any food in which any kind of bread is dipped in meat curry, & they use wheat bread for this purpose, but this concept is entirely wrong, THAREED was never made by wheat bread, & the meat curry was not cooked as our spicy curries, simple / boiled lamb soup (Yakhni type) in which Barley bread is dipped is the true definition of Thareed.
