QURAN
Ibn al-Qayyam wrote about Healing by Quran
The Holy Quran is the speech of Allah, revealed to His Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and its recitation is considered as an act of worship.
Quran is a light and a source of certainty. It is the strong rope that connects people to Allah and the path of the righteous. It contains the stories of the earlier Prophets, illustrating how those who disobeyed them faced Allah's punishment and humiliation. The Heavy book narrates the miracles of Allah's power in this vast universe and explains the origin of mankind from a humble drop of fluid. It contains the principles of faith that should be embraced by every submissive heart, as well as the rulings of Shariah that distinguish between the permissible and the forbidden, and between falsehood and the manifest truth. Furthermore, Quran explains the Day of Judgment and the ultimate destiny of humans; whether to a fire of humiliation or to a paradise filled with rivers, gardens, and secure dwellings. Quran is a cure for hearts, offering light and insight to the blind, Allah says:
And We send down of the Quran; which is a Healing and Mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss. [Al-Isra: 82]
Ibn Kathir, in his Tafseer of this verse said: "Allah informs us about His Book, the Quran, which He revealed to His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم. The Quran is one against which falsehood cannot prevail, neither from front nor from behind it. It is a revelation from the All-Wise, Worthy of Praise. Quran is a cure and mercy for the believers, healing what is in the hearts of doubt, hypocrisy, disbelief, deviation, and inclination. It cures all these ailments, and it also brings faith, wisdom, and the desire for goodness. However, this healing and mercy is only for those who believe in it, follow it, and embrace it. As for the disbelievers, they are only driven further away by hearing it, and the problem lies not with the Quran but with the disbeliever."
"Say: It is, for those who believe, a guidance and a healing. But those who do not believe, in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them a blindness. Those are being called from a distant place." [Fussilat: 44]
"O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the chests, and guidance and mercy for the believers." [Yunus: 57]
Qur'an provides Hidaayah for people, leading them from misguidance to truth. Allah says:
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah." [Al-Baqarah: 2]
We have revealed to you the Book as an explanation of all things, a guide, a mercy, and good news for those who fully submit. [Nahl: 89]
And thus, We have revealed to you a Spirit [the Quran] of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, you guide to a straight path, [Shura: 52]
Ibn Majah also narrates from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "The best remedy is Quran."
A'ishah Radi Allaho Anha reported that when any of the members of the household fell ill, Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم used to blow over them by reciting Mu'awwidhaat (last 2 Surah of Quran), and when he suffered from illness of which he died, I used to blow over him and rubbed his body with his hands; for his hands had greater healing power than my hands. (Sahih Muslim 2192a)
It is also reported by Ibn Hibban (6098) that Aishah Radi Allaho Anha said: "The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم entered upon me while a woman was treating or reciting Ruqyah over me, and he said: 'Treat her with the Book of Allah.'”
To seek Shifa from Quran, it is (primarily) necessary that whatever the book of Allah orders as a command or prohibition must be adhered to. Ibn Al-Qayyam wrote :
Quran is a complete healing for all spiritual and physical diseases, and for the ailments of this world and the Hereafter. However, not everyone is granted the ability or success to seek healing through it. If the afflicted person treats himself with the Quran properly, applying it to his illness with sincerity, faith, full acceptance, firm belief and fulfilling its conditions, the illness can never resist it.
How could any ailment withstand the words of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, which, if revealed upon mountains, would cause them to crumble, or upon the earth, would split it apart? There is no disease of the heart or body for which the Quran does not provide guidance toward its remedy and protection, for those whom Allah has granted understanding of His Book.
Quran provides guidance on the basic principles of health preservation, prevention, and the elimination of harmful substances. These principles can be applied to various other types of ailments as well.
Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book which is recited to them?"
(Surah Al-Ankaboot: 51)
Whoever are not healed by the Quran, may Allah never grant them healing. And whoever do not find sufficiency in it, may Allah never suffice them.
