Cress+Fenugreek for Asthma
The Hadith that Abu Hanifah referred to is what Abu Ubayd and other scholars have related from Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anh that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was reported to have said: "What a cure do the two bitter remedies carry, the Thufaa' (Habb-al-Rashaad) and Aloe Vera" (Weak Hadith). Ibn Al Qayyam wrote for Habb-al-Rashaad :
وإذا تضمد به مع الماء والملح أنضج الدماميل، وينفع من الاسترخاء في جميع الأعضاء، ويزيد في الباه، ويشهي الطعام، وينفع الربو، وعسر التنفس، وغلظ الطحال، وينقي الرئة، ويدر الطمث، وينفع من عرق النَّسا، ووجع حقِّ الوَرِك مما يخرج من الفضول، إذا شرب أو احتقن به، ويجلو ما في الصدر والرئة من البلغم اللزج
When Habb-al-Rashaad is used as a bandage with water, it brings the pustules to maturity and helps against flabbiness in various organs, strengthens the sexual drive and works as an appetite stimulant. It also helps against Asthma, hard breathing, relieves the thickness in the spleen, purifies the chest and increases the menstrual flow. It also helps against sciatic nerve and the cavity of the hip, due to the extraction power of the cress when one drinks it or is injected with it. Cress seeds purify the chest and lungs from phlegm.
Ibn Al Qayyam also wrote for Fenugreek : "When one eats the Hulbah cooked in honey, dates or figs on an empty stomach, it will dissolve the phlegm that accumulates in the chest and stomach, and will help against coughing that accompanies such ailments".
For ASTHMA, we combined Fenugreek & Habb-al-Rashaad as under (dosage for an adult) : Take a tablespoon each of ground Fenugreek seeds & Habb-al-Rashaad seeds, fry them in some olive oil at low heat, immediately add honey & 7 pitted dates, cook till you have a paste type consistency, it should be eaten hot immediately at an empty stomach, after which drinking water should be avoided for at least 2 hours. We found that Asthma patients had a big relief with this combination. Sucking Habb-al-Rashaad seeds (half teaspoon) like Lozenges / strepsils will also help to relieve Asthma & chest congestion (phlegmatic cough). Allah Has Granted the CURE to some bitter remedies & it is His Own Decision, so we have to be habitual for the bitter taste of Tibb-e-Nabawi herbs.
